It’s going to be a great day, at last all the months of preparation are over and everyone can relax and enjoy a great family occasion. Relax that is unless you happen to be one of the people making a speech. The father of the bride, the best man, and of course the groom will all be expected to make a speech and if you’re not used to it, it can be a daunting task. But it doesn’t have to be hell; Speakeasy can help even the most reluctant speaker overcome his nerves and deliver a speech.
A simple approach to great speeches....
Everyone gets nervous before making a speech, even professional speakers. Being a bit nervous is good, it means that you’re ready for the challenge and that you’ll give your best; but if nerves get the better of you and you’re reduced to a trembling wreck, you’re definitely in trouble. Speakeasy will show you how to keep nerves under control, the way the professionals do, so that your true personality, rather than your nervousness comes across to the audience.
Making a speech is a challenge, but it’s not a black art. By using simple practical techniques Speakeasy will ‘hold your hand’ and guide you through the obstacles that trip people up when it matters most.
Giving a speech, especially at a wedding, is a very personal and often emotional experience. We’ll work one-to-one with you to help you decide what to say, overcome your anxiety and to deliver your speech in a natural and sincere style.
Courses take place at our office in Milton Keynes beginning with a session of about one hour to establish a rough format for your speech and what you’re going to say.
After a little homework, we’ll invite you back for a longer session lasting about two hours during which we’ll show you how to deliver your speech, how to avoid the embarrassing pitfalls, and how to be yourself when all eyes are upon you. Together we’ll help you to deliver the speech you want to give and make sure the thought of it doesn’t ruin your day.
